Benchmade

Benchmade's rescue hooks and folding knives — the models built to cut a patient free of seatbelts and clothing, rather than for outdoor use.

The range splits in two: the safety hooks 7, 8 and 9 CB, which cut without an exposed blade, and the folders Bugout, Bailout and Triage. The Triage 915 is the only model carrying both functions.

The hooks cut without exposing a blade

Rescue Hook 7 BLKW and Rescue Hook 8 BLKW are the same tool in two lengths: 10.9 cm and 16.6 cm respectively. The longer gives better reach and leverage, the shorter takes less room on a vest. Both have a coated handle that works with gloves, are MOLLE compatible and are made from 440C steel at 58–60 HRC.

9 CB Hook is the black version, with a corrosion-resistant coating. What all three share is that the edge sits protected inside the hook — it parts seatbelts, clothing and straps without a point being exposed towards the patient.

The folders and the combination model

Triage 915 combines blade, safety hook and glass breaker in one tool. It is the model for anyone carrying a single knife on duty who needs all three functions.

Bugout 535GRY-1 is the lightest in the range and is built around the AXIS lock, with polyamide handle scales and titanium details. 537GY Bailout has a CPM-3V blade and a Grivory handle, meaning a tougher steel in a more robust construction. SOCP Dagger 176BKSN is a slim fixed-blade dagger in 440C, designed to be carried concealed and drawn quickly.

All Benchmade cutting tools are made at the same facility as the knives. If you need a simpler seatbelt cutter without a brand requirement, see cutting tools, and the full knife selection under knives.

Vanliga frågor om benchmade

Which Benchmade model suits healthcare and rescue services?

Rescue Hook 7 or 8 if you only need to cut away clothing and belts — the edge sits protected in the hook and cannot accidentally reach the patient. If you also need a blade and a glass breaker, the Triage 915 is the model that gathers everything in one tool.

What separates Rescue Hook 7 from Rescue Hook 8?

Only the length. Model 7 measures 10.9 cm and model 8 measures 16.6 cm. The longer handle gives better reach and more leverage in thick material, the shorter sits more neatly on a vest or belt. Steel, coating and MOLLE mount are identical.

What is the difference between Bugout and Bailout?

The materials. Bugout has an extremely slim profile and is built for low weight. Bailout has a CPM-3V blade and a Grivory handle, giving a tougher steel and a more robust construction. Both use the AXIS lock.

Are the knives meant for outdoor use or for duty?

The hooks and the Triage are rescue tools. Bugout, Bailout and SOCP are folders and a fixed blade that work just as well privately as on duty — but our selection is made with rescue and medical use as the starting point, not as a general knife range.
