Match the cabinet to the extinguisher

Use the extinguisher's actual height, width, depth and type, rather than relying on agent capacity alone. Presto Adamant is intended for 6 kg or 6 litre units and can be mounted on a wall or vehicle. The transparent cabinet is intended for 6, 9 and 12 kg extinguishers and keeps the unit visible through the housing.

Always check internal dimensions, mounting points and opening clearance before ordering. A carbon-dioxide extinguisher can have different proportions from a powder or liquid unit with the same nominal weight and therefore does not automatically fit the same cabinet.

Protection without obstructing access

A cabinet can protect the fire extinguisher from dust, moisture and mechanical wear in a vehicle, warehouse, workshop or outdoor setting. It must still open easily and should never be hidden behind storage or fittings.

Compare the extinguisher's dimensions and shape with the cabinet specification. Equal agent capacity does not always mean equal external dimensions, particularly for carbon-dioxide models. Also confirm whether the cabinet is intended for a wall, a vehicle or outdoor use and allow space to open the door and remove the unit.

Can a fire extinguisher cabinet be mounted outdoors?

Some models are designed for exposed environments and outdoor mounting, but this must be stated in the product information. Fixings, seals and location affect protection. Inspect the cabinet regularly and make sure the extinguisher remains within the temperature and environmental limits specified by its manufacturer.

Does the cabinet need a fire sign?

Clear signage makes an extinguisher easier to locate, especially when it is inside a cabinet or along a long corridor. Select a sign for the position and sight line.
