Fire safety signs

Fire signs show where extinguishing equipment is located and which agent is available. Select the main sign for the equipment and add an agent label or direction arrow where needed.

The range includes double-sided signs for fire extinguishers and hose stations, plus smaller supplementary signs for powder, foam, carbon dioxide, water, cooking-oil, lithium and metal fires. They provide clear identification from two directions.

Main signs and supplementary signs

A main sign identifies a fire extinguisher or hose station. The double-sided models in the range measure 210 × 210 mm and can be read from two directions, for example along a corridor or perpendicular to a wall.

The supplementary signs measure 100 × 210 mm and are installed with the main sign. They identify the agent or hazard, such as ABC Powder, Carbon Dioxide, Foam, Cooking Oil or Lithium Liquid. The Metal Fire/Direction Arrow model can be presented with the side appropriate to the installation.

Position signs for rapid orientation

The sign should be visible from the direction in which people normally approach the equipment. Consider doors, shelving, vehicles and other fittings that may block the view. Larger premises may need several signs or direction markers leading towards the equipment.

A sign does not replace inspection of the equipment itself. Make sure the extinguisher cabinet, extinguisher or hose station remains accessible and that the wording matches the agent actually installed. See the complete fire safety range.

Vanliga frågor om fire safety signs

What is the difference between a main and supplementary sign?

The main sign identifies the type of fire equipment, such as an extinguisher or hose station. A supplementary sign adds information about the extinguishing agent or gives a direction. They are combined when the main symbol alone does not provide enough information for the particular installation.

When is a double-sided fire sign useful?

A double-sided sign is useful when equipment must be visible from two directions, such as along a corridor, on a column or projecting from a wall. Check the sight lines from normal routes through the premises. Some positions need only a single-sided sign, while others require several markers.

How do I select the correct agent sign?

Match the wording to the agent or hazard actually present. An ABC Powder sign must not be placed above a carbon-dioxide extinguisher, and a direction arrow must point towards the equipment. The organisation's fire-safety documentation and local rules determine whether additional marking is required.
