Elastic bandages
An elastic bandage can provide support, secure a dressing or apply compression, but the right product depends on how it fastens, how far it stretches and the width required.
Compare elastic bandages by ViTri, Snøgg and Steroplast. The range includes self-adherent cohesive bandages, compression bandages, elastic adhesive bandages and crepe bandages in widths from 2.5 to 15 cm.
Vanliga frågor om elastic bandages
What is the difference between an elastic and a self-adherent bandage?
Elastic bandage is a broad category. A cohesive, self-adherent bandage is elastic but also grips itself and normally needs no clips. A conventional compression or crepe bandage does not have that property and must be secured separately. Always check the exact product configuration.
Are cohesive bandages and elastic adhesive bandages the same?
No. A cohesive bandage adheres to itself but normally not to skin or hair. An elastic adhesive bandage, or EAB, contains adhesive and sticks to both skin and itself. This affects use and removal, so select according to the product description and instructions.
Which elastic bandage width should I choose?
Start with the area to be covered and the product's intended use. Narrow 2.5–5 cm bandages provide greater precision, 7.5–10 cm are common general-purpose sizes, and 12–15 cm cover larger areas. Width does not replace correct application or medical assessment.
Can an elastic bandage be too tight?
Yes. Excessive or uneven pressure can affect circulation. Loosen or remove the bandage if skin colour, sensation or temperature changes, or if pain, numbness or tingling develops. Follow the instructions and seek medical advice if symptoms persist or you are unsure.
When is a triangular bandage used instead?
A triangular bandage is primarily used as a sling or to support an arm and is not the same as an elastic bandage. Elastic bandages provide fixation, support or compression depending on the model. A suspected fracture requires support and medical assessment.
