Alcohol swabs

The swabs measure 5 x 5 cm and come in a dispenser pack of 300. They are used to clean the skin before injection and to wipe membranes and connectors.

Let the skin dry before the needle goes in. The effect comes from the alcohol having time to act and evaporate; injecting through wet skin can carry alcohol into the puncture, which stings and leaves disinfection incomplete.

Compresses and dressing sets

The sterile compresses are 10 x 10 cm in four plies, in packs of 5 and as 30 x 5-packs for high-consumption settings. Four plies absorb more than thinner versions and are used where a wound exudes.

The dressing set is sterile and made of non-woven material. It gathers what is needed for a dressing change into one pack, so sterility is broken once rather than opening several separate packs.

Vanliga frågor om yibon

How long should the skin dry after an alcohol swab?

Let the alcohol evaporate completely before the needle goes in. Disinfection happens while the alcohol acts and dries, and injecting through still-wet skin can carry alcohol into the puncture track, which stings. Otherwise follow the protocol that applies in your organisation.

What does 4PLY mean on the compresses?

It indicates that the compress is folded in four layers. More layers give greater absorbency and more body, which is needed where a wound exudes. Fewer layers are thinner and easier to wrap around irregular surfaces. Choose according to how much needs absorbing.

Why use a ready-made dressing set?

The set gathers the material for one dressing change into a single sterile pack. Sterility is therefore broken once rather than at every individual pack, and it is quicker when several dressing changes follow one another.
