Frequently asked questions about leukoplast
Which Leukoplast tape suits sensitive skin?
Leukosilk and Leukopor. Both are soft, breathable and release more easily on removal than plastic-based tape, which makes them suitable for frequent dressing changes and for older people with thin skin. Waterproof and plastic-based tapes hold more firmly and are better where the tape has to withstand moisture.
What is the difference between Leukopor and Leukofix?
Leukopor is a porous non-woven tape that breathes well and is especially gentle on the skin. Leukofix is transparent, thin and hypoallergenic and is barely visible once applied. Functionally they do the same job — the choice is between maximum skin friendliness and a more discreet appearance.
Can kinesiology tape replace an ordinary support bandage?
No. Leukotape K is elastic and offloads by following and influencing the movement of the skin, whereas a support bandage or an elastic bandage provides compression and mechanical support. In an acute sprain, compression and offloading are the basis; kinesiology tape is used as a complement later in the course of healing.
